Spiritual Direction
Offered by
Renata McNeely
Spiritual direction, or spiritual companioning, is the practice of sitting with another person in the presence of God or the Divine. The director holds a generous space for the directee and creates a welcoming environment of grace, quiet reflection, and compassionate listening.
It is out of these peaceful places and honest sharing, that the directee and director can notice the movement of the Spirit in someone’s life, and listen to what God wants to speak into the directee’s life.
Most of us don’t have the privilege of living a cloistered life with time to wander mindfully through lush gardens in quiet, as the idea of a “contemplative person” might appear in your imagination. But the practice of spiritual direction engages us in such a way that we can nonetheless feel more connected to ourselves and to God.
Spiritual direction is a place where we can come and be reminded, as often as is needed, that we are held in Love.
Having an hour set apart each month to experience a reprieve from the constant motion of our bodies and mind can help us to slow down, press pause, connect with ourselves and with God, and be reminded of our value.
Knowing the slow and deep work that spiritual direction continues to nourish in my life, I am grateful to create a safe and brave space for anyone who desires A Sacred Welcome to listen together to the movement of God in their lives.
